Debating about driving from Columbia , SC to play in one of their daily tournaments. Just curious what everyone thinks of them.

If you are reporting about a casino, could you please try to include the following:
The more information we have, the better off we will be.
We all know that tables can change rapidly. I saw a table go from 25 to 15 to 100 at the Flamingo in the course of a few hours. I'll try to keep the mins what is reported the most and add other information in the comments like "found this table at $5 on graveyard shift" so people konw that isn't the norm
These tables can be a pain to maintain, so please provide as much information as possible. An informed roller is a beter roller.

Mississippi/North Carolina Poker Rooms

I'm right in the middle of a few different rooms, all ~4hr 15 mins, +/- 15 minutes. I plan to do once a month, staying overnight on a Friday/Saturday and then playing the next day. I've moved away from a casino and the couple random home games I play in don't really scratch that itch. 1/2 NLHE.
Looking for any advice on whether or not it would be enjoyable, clean, cheap rooms/hotel nearby. Something to do if I'm not playing cards or good food/bars nearby.

Hello, I was wondering if anybody could give me any tips on what they've found to be the best time to play live cash games at the casino, I normally play 1/2 and on Friday and Saturday evenings, I want to play more but I feel like during the week days it would mostly be regs and not many fish, I play at harrahs cherokee in nc too if that helps, thanks guys

It's been a while since I've been to the casino to play some live cash, and upon searching, I didn't see very many threads about cash games in general. What are some good rules of thumb to remember? I know tight is probably right and betting when you have it for value is going to be key. Is there anything else I should keep in mind? This will be at Harrah's Cherokee in NC.

Casinos?

Cherokee, NC. Worth the drive?
Some background: When I lived in Northern California, I would head up to Lake Tahoe and gamble / ski / hike / camp about half a dozen times per year.
Now I've visited Boone, Asheville, Wilmington, and the Outer Banks. All of them are lovely enough, but at the end of each day I'm always left feeling that they would be better if I could head down to the lounge, have a cocktail, play some video poker then maybe go watch the Blue Man Group.
(Joking a little about the Blue Man Group. But some live entertainment would be nice.)
My question: How does Harrah's Cherokee rate vs. the casinos in Nevada or some other internationally recognized gambling mecca?
Would I be better off driving to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut? (An extra 300 miles--about twice the distance). Any other good spots on the East Coast? (Atlantic City has a reputation for being... disappointing.) Or should I just look for a cheap air-hotel-car package deal for Las Vegas?

(USA) I hit a slot-machine jackpot out of state. I am on medicaid and food stamps & need help from anyone who can.

Hi everyone - I live in New York,single and no kids/dependents -- but I was just out of State in NC at Cherokee Harrah's casino and hit a $8,000 slot machine jackpot. An attendent came over, took two forms of ID and came back with 8,000 cash and a 2015 W2-G form for my taxes.
Question 1: How much taxes will I have to pay out of that 8,000?
Question 2: I am on medicaid and SNAP benefits (welfare) because I make less than 16,000/yr. I already received paperwork in the mail stating I am being auto-enrolled for 2016 in medicaid again. With this being said, the jackpot puts me over the limit -- How will this affect my standings with medicaid & other benefits? What exactly should I go about doing? This was all unexpected.
Someone had told me dont file till April... just incase.
